In a TORBED dryer, material is fluidised, not just conveyed. Industrial belt dryers use a moving perforated belt to transport product while hot air passes over or through it for drying. A TORBED processor, by contrast, suspends particles in a toroidal fluidized bed using strategically positioned stationary blades and high-velocity gas—ensuring intense, uniform heat and mass transfer without particle entrainment.
TORBED processor systems are significantly smaller and less mechanically complex than belt or rotary drum dryers of similar capacity. They offer enhanced process control and product quality: high gas velocity removes the thermal boundary layer, delivering rapid and even heating—unlike the layered and slower process of belt dryers.
The result: outstanding control over moisture removal and product integrity, even with delicate or friable materials—such as snack pellets that must retain softness and flexibility. Lack of mechanical complexity means that TORBED dryers support remote operation
